Tips on Quitting Smoking
If you haven’t found a hypnotherapist in your area or you can decide which CD/Mp3 to buy, here are a few tips to get you started on the road to becoming a non smoker.
- Work out the most likely time that you would smoke
Keep some kind of diary of your smoking habits, record where you are, who you are with, what mood you are in, are there any particular stresses etc. This will give you an idea of the reasons why you smoke and maybe help you to avoid certain situations while you are quitting. - Plan to do something different at the regular smoking times
Instead of giving in and conforming to the normal routine, decide that you are going to do some exercise, read a book, catch up with different friends, go for a walk etc. There are so many enjoyable things you can be doing instead of smoking. - Prepare yourself for quitting
In the lead up to your quit date, start to reduce the number of cigarettes that you have. When the day arrives, clear away ash trays, clean anything that smells of smoke and get rid of any cigarettes. - Keep your mind and body healthy
Drink water, avoid caffeine and alcohol, exercise regularly – use this time to make a real difference. You will wonder why you didn’t do it years ago! - Get help if necessary
Ask friends to respect the fact that you are quitting smoking and avoid smoking around you – you never know it might just plant the seed in their mind to consider stopping.
Use hypnosis – it works! If you still need help seek out a hypnotherapist in your area – ask around, the best reference is word of mouth. When you do find a hypnotherapist continue with your strategies and you will be a non smoker.
Keep repeating “I am a non smoker” over and over. When you know you are a non smoker you won’t go back.
