Effects of Smoking - Part 1


The effects of smoking are well known to just about everyone who smokes. It affects all parts of the body – this means, when a smoker finally makes that decision and becomes a non smokers they are going to improve every part of their body, with immediate as well as long term benefits. The list of ailments that can occur as a result of smoking is both long and worrying. This list includes (but is not limited to) –
  • Heart Attack and Coronary Disease
  • Stroke
  • Lung Problems
  • Cancer (throat, mouth, bladder, kidney, pancreas, cervix, stomach)
  • Emphysema (a progressive and potentially fatal lung disease)
  • Pneumonia and Chronic Bronchitis.

There have also been studies that suggest that long term smoking affects the brain. Not only does it increase the risk of stroke, but it may also affect its cognitive functioning.
