What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, which is induced to bring about a heightened state of suggestibility, where the conscious (analytical) mind is bypassed, and the subconscious (creative) mind is accessed.

This allows a client to use the power of visualization, suggestion and other techniques, to change and improve behaviour patterns and alter deep-rooted belief systems to give an improved or more positive outlook.  There is nothing mysterious or secret about hypnosis, it is a state of mental and physical relaxation, along with a more focused sense of concentration – it is not sleep, as a lot of people believe.

You cannot be made to do anything that you don’t want to, or think anything that is against your own moral beliefs.

Everyone enters a state of light hypnosis on regular occasions – whenever you are daydreaming, doing something automatically (driving, reading, watching a movie etc.) you are experiencing a light state of hypnosis.  Sometimes you can finish whatever you are doing and not really remember much about it.

What is Hypnotherapy?
